Palmone update

The latest PalmOne devices Zire72 and Zire31 also include these new organizer apps. Palm Desktop installs both sets of conduits, because it has no way of knowing whether you have a newer device or a classic device.

It is up to you to disable the corresponding conduits go to HotSync manager, change conduit properties to "do nothing" and make that the default. But to be fair, they have the same problem on the Windows version of HotSync as well.

Boy, sounds like a recipe for a lot of headaches Although my Photos Albums got corrupted a few times, but re-install overwrite fixed that. Hopefully the new PD 4. Installed Palm Desktop 4. Then that Palm Tech guy would say -- we haven't tried it yet After a few rounds of Yes and No, I let that issue go, figuring that I'll find out soon. Whatever photo's I got in, that would have been it, no more new photos And so To be safe, I did a Shut Down.

The new Splash Screen is pretty, but I liked the old one better As to new features, I am yet to go through the Menus. I did pick up 4 more Memos Prior to running this PD 4. This way I'd know if I lost any Data, or got some Duplicate records The "Optimize for handheld screen resolution" box was grayed out I figured out a fix in order to Change Category Color Then, when To Do is created, the New Color is in effect.

SORRY about such long report. MORE happy news!!!! RE: Installed Palm Desktop 4. About your notice of the category colors not syncing between desktop and device: that's documented on the help. When a new category is created, it will be created with an approximately matching color on the other side of the sync.

But existing categories won't have their colors sync'ed. After some very light tests it looks OK and I've just installed and used it, no reboots and permissions repairs, though I was expecting that some trouble would pop up. With Palm Desktop 4. I was not taking advantage of the iApps integration anyway, and well, Palm Desktop finally looks more integrated with the Palm device than iCal :P.

Some more testing will have to follow, of course. And I'll retest the iApps when something new is available I hope they get mature enough. Related Articles Is This the New Palm Logo? Article Comments 37 comments The following comments are owned by whoever posted them.

Good timing. Is this really a totally "new" Desktop, or just a downloadable version of what has been on the Tungsten T3 and Tungsten E CD's already? This update also includes a revenge factor for PalmOne: In response to reviewers constantly complaining about the lack of additional polyphonic alarm sounds on new PalmOne handhelds, the new PalmOne Desktop actually requires you to choose one of the existing ones for deletion.

Nice to see PalmOne keeping things updated on the desktop software side, but for God's sake To me the new Palm Desktop looks good enough. Crac, crab, crab. Leave it alone. Yeah, we need the updated PIM apps on our older Palms! I'm having some installation issues, too. I had the same problem as you, Jim. Is PD for Mac off the death row:?! What a relief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Motorola is promising a Verizon Bluetooth phone v, i think during Q2 of the is year. Peace, -Bartman How come there is no Desktop for the most popular SmartPhone in the world? RE: Treo! Where's my e-mail? Has anyone else signed up for the download and not received the e-mail with the URL many hours later?

They may just be overwhelmed by folk downloading I signed up using my Hotmail addresses, 2 different ones and they never responded. My HotSync Manager doesn't crash after every sync now! Man, I was starting to get used to restarting it after every sync I'm only hoping that PalmSource would commit itself more to the Mac Platform rather than the Windows Platform, though. Backwards compatible. Before I have any real hassles, does anyone know if this will install and sync properly with my Prism?

They were open to that and I think that it would be a good call. Motricity was very interested in making eReader available for more people. The big hint there was to look for eReader to appear on other platforms. Keep out for that news as I think it will bode well for their ever increasing library of eBooks. Good Things Ahead. Things seem to be going pretty well for palmOne right now.

They are stronger in the retail arena, and have a good breadth of offerings. How can the user base be satisfied with P1 if we don't know what P1 is doing to support us? If somebody finds this kind of information please tell, too I have no clue what it did. Nothing to do with GUI. They just want us to buy a new handheld every time, simple as that.

Just imagine how well a Zire 71 would continue to suit most users if an upgrade to 5. Instead to get those capabilities you have to go with the peeling, non-UC Z Until I feel like spending the money on the WiFi card for the Tungsten, I'm going to just have to use my Thinkpad X40 on rogue networks, like I am now. When I used them with my new Zire 72 the Zire would crash. Since updating I have not had this problem. It look like Palm has a contract with Sandisk to make their cards My question is : will Palm wifi drivers work with the Sandisk cards?

Did someone try to put a Sandisk Wifi card inside is palm to test it? He stated that it didn't work in a response to someone's comments under Ryan's P1 wi-fi card review. Supposedly, the P1 card is of a special low power consumption design so as to minimize battery life. Of course, in a power-sucking OS5 model, fretting over a few minutes of reduced battery life is like splitting hairs.

I ask this because the Sandisk model is the only one that is available. PalmOne has it posted in accessories section, but there is no link to buy it.

Can someone post a direct link? But Why? No Idea I'm sure there, last week because I was interested by the SD Wifi card. That's strange. I have started getting an intermittant problem on my Tungsten E where the digitiser is not correctly identifying the pen's location and the 'home button' starts the world clock application rather than going to the app launcher.

I can work around the problem by removing and reinserting the flash memory card. This then forces the application launcher to start showing the memory card and the digitiser then behaves again.

Newer ones were released that offered greater stability, OS5 compatability, and better image preview quality when viewing thumbnail shots taken by the camera.

Indeed, the drivers are not on the card. I got the card this weekend at the new PalmOne store in the Atlanta airport, as I flew through it. Just completed updating of both my T3 and Treo
